Pulkovo Airport Terminal – Designed by Ergun Group, Supplied by ASPAN

As a gateway to the rich cultural and architectural heritage of St. Petersburg, the new terminal at Pulkovo Airport is a bold expression of climate-responsive design and civic identity. Conceived by Ergun Group, this landmark project reflects the city’s islands, bridges, and arctic light, while delivering an intuitive and inspiring passenger experience.

Shaped to withstand extreme northern climates, the terminal’s dramatic roof—formed by twelve 18-meter-wide bays—distributes snow loads evenly across its surface. Rising above, a series of inverted prisms pierce the roofline, channeling natural light deep into the terminal even during the darkest winter months.

The soffit’s faceted geometry evokes crystalline snowflakes and the pitched roofs of St. Petersburg, finished in a warm gilded tone that echoes the golden domes and spires of the city’s skyline. Beneath this sculptural canopy, the spacious interiors are organized for seamless passenger flow and a visually rich journey.

With over 12 million annual travelers, the terminal stands as a refined union of architecture and engineering. ASPAN, as the key supplier, brought technical precision and material excellence to the project—ensuring the realization of Ergun Group’s visionary design.
