Kutubu Convention Centre – Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Designed by Ergun Group, the Kutubu Convention Centre is a landmark cultural and event facility set within the Star Mountain Plaza precinct in Port Moresby. Built on a former quarry site, the 5,500 m² centre spans four levels and includes an 800-seat banquet hall, flexible meeting rooms, food and beverage outlets, and 1,000 m² of open-air function space.
The iconic timber roof, inspired by Papua New Guinea’s traditional long houses, defines the building’s identity—both architecturally and culturally. Interior materials and design elements reflect local heritage, including references to cowrie shells and indigenous craftsmanship.
Originally developed for the 2018 APEC Summit, the centre continues to serve as a national symbol of progress, culture, and community integration.
